These islands are only available to enjoy for around 50% of the year; from mid-October to mid-May. Partly to give time for the islands reefs to regenerate, but also due to the heavy monsoons in the area during the wet season.

During this time of year however, the dry season provides the perfect window for a private speedboat tour to the area; with calmer winds, flatter seas and clear blue sunny skies.

The name ‘Similan’ is derived from a Malay dialect word meaning nine. However, in 1998 two further islands were included and now these 11 form the Similan Islands National Park, a spectacular archipelago in the Andaman Sea.
