8 August, 2016 - Phuket, Thailand: The only hotel on Phuket selected to become a member of the elite Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), THE NAI HARN, recently launched exclusive cooking classes with its Executive Pastry Chef and Master Baker Daniel Back, including a special class just for junior bakers.
"Baking is something intrinsically linked with happy memories of shared celebrations and fond family moments. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to share with our guests my passion, which appeals to varied age groups, genders, and cultures," says Chef Daniel.
The cooking classes are limited to a maximum of four participants to ensure personal attention from the Master Baker, and the hotel is offering three intriguing choices.
Chocolate praline/cake class (Duration: 1.5 hours): Ideal for those who enjoy the sweeter things in life, this class invites bakers to get their hands gooey in the name of chocolate pralines, classic fruitcake and indulgent chocolate cake. The class ends with an interactive session with the chef to talk and taste, plus some sweet treats to take away as a keepsake.
Bread/bake class (Duration: 1 hour): Bread may be a dietary staple, but baking good bread is an art. Guests learn to measure, mix, knead and prove bread dough – while waiting for the optimal baking time, guests make assorted flavored puff pastries and muffins. Freshly baked bread straight from the oven is then enjoyed with a cup of coffee or tea.
Cookies/cupcake class (Duration: 1 hour): Tailored especially for the kids, the class starts with making and baking cookies – while waiting, thejunior bakers learn to pipe buttercream and decorate cupcakes. Graduating mini-chefs receive a mini torque (chefs hat) and aprons as take-home souvenirs.
Chef Daniel's culinary pedigree includes stints at Mirabelle – Marco Pierre White's flagship restaurant in the heart of London's Mayfair, and a 3-Michelin starred restaurant within a private members' club in London alongside Jean-George Vongerichten. He has also worked with William Curley, who is widely known as 'Britain's best chocolatier', and at Nobu, where he was sent to train the restaurant's pastry teams in Hong Kong and Dubai.
Baking classes at THE NAI HARN are conducted in the open kitchen of the seafront Cosmo restaurant: Each class is 1 - 1.5 hours duration and THB 2,200 per person per class. For more details about the cooking classes and to book a spot, contact +66 (0) 76 380 200 or [email protected] .
