Laguna Phuket Hospitality Challenge Gives Back to the Community

Donation raised from the event (totaled THB 138,000) presented to Laguna Phuket Foundation for the Community Learning Centre programme (CLC) by Laguna Golf Phuket team.

Laguna Golf Phuket recently hosted Phuket’s very first hospitality charity golf tournament – Laguna Phuket Hospitality Challenge. Partnering with Asean Events, the Laguna Phuket resort hotels, spa and golf course came together to welcome over 60 golfers comprising hospitality professionals for a day of fun-filled speed golf, gourmet golf and gala celebrations at Xana Beach Club of Angsana Laguna Phuket.

Throughout the day, golfers enjoyed a fantastic event atmosphere, wonderful hospitality offerings from Laguna Phuket resort hotels and sponsors as well as the excellent playing conditions with world-class facilities on the scenic Laguna Golf Phuket course.

The event has also witnessed the Kingdom’s first speed golf competition, as a few teams of four attempted to play the par 5 hole 9 as fast as possible, where the team from Outrigger Hotels & Resorts emerged as the winner.

Mr Paul Wilson, Laguna Golf Assistant Vice President / Group Golf Director enthused, “When creating this event with Asean Events, we have three fundamental objectives. Firstly, we want to create a golf event whereby hospitality professionals could mingle and network together. Complementing this hospitality theme, we wish to showcase all the highlights of what Laguna Phuket integrated resort has to offer within one round of golf. Finally and most importantly, we hope to raise funds towards the Laguna Phuket Foundation for the Community Learning Centre programme (CLC).”

The amount raised from this event totalled THB 138,000. This donation was presented to the Laguna Phuket CSR team and CLC kids at Laguna Golf Phuket following the event. Wilson went on to say, “After the resounding success, we have confirmed the Laguna Phuket Hospitality Challenge as an annual event on our golf event calendar, to be held around the June/July off-peak season period.”

Mr Mark Cameron, Managing Director of ASEAN Events said, “We are delighted to partner with Laguna Golf Phuket to present this new networking event for the hospitality industry in Southern Thailand. Besides competing for business, why not have a fun game of golf with likeminded professionals and do a part to raise funds for children. Kudos to the Laguna Golf Phuket team for doing such a great job! We look forward to organising a bigger event in 2017.”

Since the re-launch last year, Laguna Golf Phuket has continuously improved its facilities and service to align with top standards in both playability and course conditions, while focusing on its mission of corporate social responsibility.

The Laguna Phuket Community Learning Centre (CLC) was established in March 2007 from Phuket Tsunami Recovery Funds (PTRF) to develop long-term assistance for those affected by the 2004 Tsunami. The CLC provides free English and Chinese language courses to interested learners. To-date over 8,000 learners have enrolled with CLC.
