Phuket Thailand - Thanyapura Health and Sports Resort has recently won two international awards for its involvement in the development of sports in Asia and its leading sports resort concept.
On October 4, 2016, Thanyapura Health and Sports Resort was presented the Bronze Award from SPIA Asia – Sports Industry Awards & Conference 2016 in the category “Best Hospitality, Recreation or Leisure Offering in Sports of the Year”. The conference, held in Bangkok, received 208 entries from 17 countries for the 19 awards categories and 350 guests gathered at the event to celebrate alongside the winners.
The event, rightly named “The Business of Sports – Asia’s Sports Industry in the Fastlane”, was endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. It aimed to facilitate the collaboration and help drive best practices across the Asian sports industry and to recognize and celebrate the achievements of the sporting industry in the region.
The 2-day event took place at the Ballroom of Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center and welcomed 250 sports professionals from several different sports facilities across Asia.
On October 15, 2016, Thanyapura Health and Sports Resort was named Asia's Leading Sports Resort at the 23rd Annual World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016 following the vote by a large number of travel and tourism professionals worldwide.
The ceremony this year was held in Danang, Vietnam. The red-carpet Gala Ceremony was attended by an invited audience of the industry's leading luminaries and international media.
The World Travel Awards is widely known as the most prestigious and comprehensive award in the tourism industry which “serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.”
