Luxury phuket resort The Nai Harn announces world-first hospitality partnership with wine expert james suckling.

PHUKET, THAILAND: Luxury beachfront resort THE NAI HARN in Phuket, Thailand has achieved another world first in forging a partnership with global wine expert James Suckling to assemble a truly extraordinary wine list at the legendary resort.

The world famous wine critic and CEO of JamesSuckling.com has created a wine list along with the in-house experts at THE NAI HARN which will inspire a series of events this year culminating in a black tie dinner in December to celebrate the collection of wines exclusively available at the resort. The American, a resident of Hong Kong who l,ives part of the year in Bangkok also organizes Thailand's biggest and most prestigious wine event each December, Great Wines of Italy Asia. He is Thailand's most popular wine critic, with over 20,000 followers and a semi-monthly newsletter in Thai.

The NAI HARN events kick off on the 26th of February with wines from Livio Felluga which are featured on the resorts wine list. Felluga is one Italy's best white wine producers, making bright and fruity wines from the Northeastern part of the country. In May, JamesSuckling.com will launch a competition for the best rosé wine available in Thailand, with the top 10 to be featured on the wine list at THE NAI HARN.

The move marks another impressive partnership for THE NAI HARN, following hooking up with Salim Khoury, legendary barman of 43 years at the American Bar at The Savoy in London, who created a signature cocktail list for the resort and trained all beverage staff.

"To have someone of the calibre of James and his team at JamesSuckling.com join our team is a great honour," said THE NAI HARN General Manager Frank Grassmann. "There are very few people in the world - if any at all - with his knowledge of wines and guests will be able to relish some truly insightful and creative selections."

Among the wines that grace the list by James Suckling are:
Peter Michael Sauvignon Blanc Knights ValleyLAprès-Midi 2013. Peter Michael, USA, 95 points.
Brunello di Montalcino 2010 Casanova di Neri, Italy, 96 points.
Riesling Alsace Frédéric Emile 2007 F E Trimbach France, 97 points. James Suckling, fresh from his world tour highlighting The Great Wines of Italy in Hong Kong, Bangkok, New York , Los Angeles, and San Francisco, said he was delighted to be launching his first hotel partnership which would be exclusive to THE NAI HARN in Thailand.

"We will have a lot of fun here and I am convinced guests to THE NAI HARN will love the collection of wines we have selected especially for the resort," said James Suckling. "We have taken a lot into consideration from the culinary experiences created by the incredible team here led by Frank Grassmann and Kevin Fawkes to the climate and variety of guests palettes - and we will look forward to celebrating great wines throughout the year."

Located on beautiful Nai Harn, named Thailands Best Beach by TripAdvisor users, near the southern tip of the island, THE NAI HARN offers 130 luxurious guest rooms and suites with panoramic views over the Andaman Sea, featuring a stunning new pool Rooftop Deck and food and beverage spaces.

The resort provides authentic destination experiences, extraordinary culinary happenings and expertly curated connections to the best of island life and southern Thai culture - as well as touches of glamour and indulgence courtesy of a Press For Champagne button on every terrace and decadent Beach Butler service on the beach.

Originally launched in 1986 and most recently named the Royal Phuket Yacht Club, THE NAI HARN has undergone an extensive 18-month remodeling programme before reopening in December 2015.

High profile guests over the years have included Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, Prince Albert of Monaco, Prince Henrik of Denmark, former French president Jacques Chirac, the late actor Sir Peter Ustinov, dance legend Rudoph Nureyev, US actor Forest Whittaker and Roger Moore, who once fought Dr No on his famously eponymous James Bond Island off the coast of Phang Nga, a short speedboat hop away.
