On Friday 15 July 2016, around 100 Laguna Phuket management, associates, kindergarten students and nearby community members participated in the 21st Laguna Phuket Buddhist Lent activity at Anamaikasem Temple (Wat Bangtao) in Thalang, Phuket.
Led by Ms. Prachoom Tantiprasertsuk, General Manager of Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, all the participating Laguna Phuket management and associates joined the lent candle parade around the temple’s chapel before offering alms and delivering donation.
Apart from corporate donation of lent candle, this year Laguna Phuket has donated 9 sets of electric fans and raised 55,860 Baht to the temple.
The Buddhist Lent takes place every year in rainy season, from the first waning moon day of the 8th Lunar month to the 15th waxing moon day of the 11th Lunar month, during which the monks are required to remain in the temples. This long-established tradition enforces a strong relationship with community members, and continues to raise awareness on cultural preservation among new generations.
