An increasing number of top-ranked chefs and restaurateurs is attracted to Phuket by the dream (indeed the reality) of tropical island life. They've brought with them every type of cuisine from Indian, Italian, French, Scandinavian, Japanese, Korean, American steaks and grills and more to complement the existing famous Thai food. There truly is something for every taste and every budget - not forgetting the thousands of small, local eateries and kerbside food stalls dishing up what we call 'street food', often specialising in their own recipe of just one dish. Because of their high turnover (to mostly local Thais) the food is fresh and delightful.
